Initial thoughts about the bride

The first time I heard about Linda was the day after Paul met her. He called first thing in the morning to tell me that he’d met the girl of his dreams. I told him to calm down and play it cool, and to hold off for as long as possible on mentioning his collection of beanie babies.

From the moment I met Jill — and I know from the moment Jack did—there were no questions to be answered. I immediately saw the way they talked to each other, the way they looked at each other, the way they seemed to instinctually care about one another, and I thought only one pressing thought: There is no way she has seen pictures of him in braces.
