Someone – an American writer I believe - once said that a good marriage is a ‘contest of generosity.’ This doesn’t mean you have to out-bid each other with Christmas presents, although in my experience that helps! It means that when you get to those crunch points in life when your every instinct says take, be generous; give instead. When you’re certain you’re right, be generous; give the benefit of the doubt.
