Light-hearted ribbing

I appreciate there were a number of suitable candidates that Paul could have chosen to be his best man. The lads he hung around with at school, the guys he knew at university and the chaps from his work – Paul’s fond of all of them and each had a chance. But Linda suggested me because I like him back.

Although I’ve know Paul a long time, I don’t have a lot to say about him because he hasn’t done an awful lot. But apparently he came close to drowning once and his whole life flashed before his eyes … and he wasn’t in it.
