Their marital hopes

I was talking to Paul about what he wanted from his marriage, and he said: 'Well, I want to be a model husband. I want to be a model citizen.' And he added, with a large grin, that he also wanted to be a model lover. Being the naive chap that I am, I looked up ‘model’ in the dictionary, and found it to be ‘a miniature replica of the real thing’.

Paul was telling me he intended to love and nurture his marriage the same way he does with his beloved football. He says he’s going in fully committed, plans to score every week, change ends at half time and play half the season away from home. Funny that, because if he does, Linda reckons it’s a sure fire way of getting a serious groin injury.
